Common environmental resources are vulnerable to overexploitation and opportunistic behavior, which can lead to their destruction. While the government traditionally manages these resources, emerging organizational forms such as collaborative networks are increasingly recognized for their role in fostering sustainable growth. In this context, business networks can play a key role in protecting and regenerating commons by promoting cooperative behavior, such as adhering to resource exploitation constraints. Digital technologies enable these networks to adopt highly participatory platforms that facilitate efficient coordination and value-creating interactions between actors. Such platforms help manage common resources more effectively, contributing to the regeneration of business network commons (BNCs). This study analyzes the Omega agricultural business network focusing on grape production in Valpolicella, Italy, where the implementation of a digital transformation strategy (DTS) and digital platform have significantly improved the management of BNCs and enhanced BNC regeneration. The platform enables real-time monitoring of vineyard health and ensures that necessary agricultural activities are performed on time, supporting systemic resource management. Through interviews, focus groups, and analysis of written materials, the study highlights how Omega’s digital platform fosters collaboration, transparency, and accountability among network participants. By integrating agricultural, managerial, and IT expertise, the platform improves the efficiency of resource management and quality assurance processes. The results show that Omega’s use of digital technologies reduces opportunistic behavior and helps maintain high environmental and quality standards, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the network. Overall, the study demonstrates how digital transformation strategies can positively influence BNC regeneration by enhancing governance structures, fostering social responsibility, and improving long-term profitability. It also emphasizes the importance of institutional support for digitalization, cross-company collaboration, and consumer awareness regarding environmental quality.
